The Negroni

Negroni served on the rocks

The classic Negroni cocktail was created in Florence, Italy when Count Camillo Negroni, looking for a strong beverage requested that the bartender add gin to the cocktail known as the Americano rather than soda water.  Beautifully red in color due to the Campari, the Negroni is a deliciously bitter, potent cocktail that is quite simple to make. It requires adding equal parts of three ingredients. Quintin Joseph suggests serving it on the rocks in an Old-Fashioned glass however, it can also be served straight in a chilled Martini glass. A twist of orange peel may serve as an optional garnish.

  • 1 oz. gin
  • 1 oz. Campari
  • 1 oz. sweet vermouth
