Arco: An Italian Design Classic You Should Know

Great design excites and inspires me.  Lighting is one particular element in home design that often gets underestimated. The power of a beautifully lit space is far reaching. Lighting is both form and function. It illuminates, radiates, warms, accentuates, and is a beautiful sculptural piece in and of itself.

A classic floor lamp that I am sure you have seen is the Arco. Designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and produced since 1962, it has appeared in films such as the James Bond sequel, "Diamonds are Forever" as well as "The Italian Job".

Aside from its inherent beauty, I particularly appreciate that every piece of this Italian made lamp has a function.  Details such as beveled corners provide protection from injury. The striking Carrera marble base provides a counterbalance designed to take up minimal space while being pleasing to the eye. There is also a hole in the base to make moving it easier. Need an over head lamp, but dread the hassle of wiring?  The sweeping arch provides the illumination of an overhead light and spares you from the dreaded tasks that an overhead lamp would require.

Suitable for a wide range of decor, it is a statement piece you'll be pleased you purchased.
